Apexification
A specialised endodontic procedure for immature teeth with open root tips.
What is it?
Apexification is a specialised endodontic procedure used in immature or damaged teeth with open root tips where the pulp has died.
The aim is to stimulate the formation of a hard, calcified barrier at the root end, allowing the canal to be sealed and the tooth preserved.
What happens if it isn't treated?
If left untreated, the dead pulp can become infected, leading to chronic inflammation at the root tip, bone loss, pain, and possible facial swelling or discharge.
Root development will remain incomplete, leaving a short, fragile root with thin walls that is highly prone to fracture. Over time, the tooth will remain non-vital and may ultimately be lost if the infection progresses.
What happens next?
We include apexification in our Restore & Shine package for £1,290.
Before booking, we recommend discussing your pet's case with a member of our clinical team.
