Reshaping rough or fractured tooth surfaces to reduce plaque and soft tissue trauma.
What is it?
This procedure smooths rough or fractured areas of the tooth to reduce plaque retention and help prevent further calculus build-up.
It also involves gently reshaping the tip of the tooth to lower its height and create a more rounded contour, minimising soft tissue trauma caused by caudal malocclusion.
What happens if it isn't treated?
If left untreated, this condition can lead to ongoing dental and oral health issues. Misaligned or damaged teeth may cause trauma to the surrounding soft tissues, such as the gums or palate, leading to pain and inflammation.
Over time, abnormal contact between teeth can also result in excessive wear of opposing teeth. These changes can increase plaque retention, raising the risk of periodontal disease and further complications.
