What is a scale & polish?
Dental scaling is a routine procedure carried out under a safe general anaesthetic which involves using an ultrasonic probe to gently remove the hardened brown tartar and calculus from the teeth.
A veterinary dental scaling also cleans the area below the gumline, the area where periodontal disease develops, leading to more serious disease and potential tooth loss if left untreated.
All Luna dental procedures include a routine scale and polish, with our routine Protect & Shine dental including a full dental cleaning, plus X-rays as required, and full dental charting.
Dental X-rays
Radiology is an essential part of modern veterinary dentistry, allowing the clinicians to look at the roots of the teeth and the surrounding bone.
Without X-rays, it is impossible to fully assess the health of your pet's teeth, and make the correct decisions about extractions and restorations.
At Luna we use the latest digital X-ray technology to ensure that all of our patients benefit from detailed X-ray investigation as required.
