Root Canal Therapy

Saving fractured, infected or dead teeth as an alternative to extraction.

What is it?

Root canal therapy is a dental procedure used to treat fractured, infected, or dead teeth, restoring the tooth to allow full function as an alternative to extraction.

Done at a high standard by suitably qualified vets, root canal therapy is safe and highly effective. It is a good option in many cases where teeth have been damaged or fractured, but not usually appropriate for teeth with advanced periodontal disease which affects the external area of the tooth and its attachments to the bone.

What happens if it isn't treated?

If an infected or damaged tooth is left untreated, it can cause ongoing severe pain, infection, and abscess formation. Dogs often hide signs of dental pain, so this can lead to prolonged suffering.

Over time, the infection may spread to the jawbone, result in tooth loss, and potentially affect vital organs such as the heart and liver.

What happens next?

We include root canal therapy for single roots in our Restore & Shine package for £1,290.
