Vital Pulp Therapy
Keeping a recently fractured tooth alive and pain-free — ideal for younger dogs.
What is it?
An alternative to extraction or root canal treatment in damaged teeth, vital pulp therapy involves removing a portion of the pulp from the damaged tooth, and sealing the pulp cavity with a special dressing and cement.
Only appropriate for recently damaged teeth, vital pulp therapy keeps the tooth alive and pain-free, making it a great option for younger dogs with fractured teeth.
What happens if it isn't treated?
If a dog that needs vital pulp therapy doesn't receive it, the exposed pulp (nerve) can become infected and die, leading to significant pain.
Over time, the infection can spread deeper into the tooth, causing an abscess at the root. This may result in swelling, tooth discolouration, and eventual tooth loss.
Without treatment, the tooth will usually require a full root canal or extraction later on.
What happens next?
We include vital pulp therapy for single teeth in our Restore & Shine package for £1,290.
Multiple teeth will require the Restore & Shine Plus package for £1,690.
Before booking, we recommend discussing your pet's case with a member of our clinical team.
